Special two-day sale to precede annual Friends of the Library used book sale

Thanks to some recent, and very generous donations, the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library are having a special sale of children’s books and scrapbooking supplies prior to their annual fall book sale.

The sale will be held Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 5:30 pm and Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 am to 1 pm in the library basement. “Our inventory is overflowing, and we need to make space for the book sale,” said Barb Labate, Friends book sale chair.

“Home educators, teachers, parents and grandparents will be especially interested in the huge selection of children’s books,” added Jane Millard, library director, “and for those who enjoy making greeting cards, doing other paper crafts, or scrapbooking, this sale will be like finding gold.”

This is a short sale – only two days.  Shoppers do not need to be a member of the Friends organization to come to the special sale.  Children’s books are priced at 25c each.  Bags will be provided, and most scrapbooking supplies will be sold as “fill a bag for $10”, with some larger items priced individually.  There is an abundance of stickers and decorative paper (both solids and patterned) to choose from as well as office supplies and many 3-ring binders in good condition.

The Friends invite readers to put their annual fall book sale on their calendar for Sept. 20-28.  The fall book sale will include many other items such as books for all ages, large print and audio books, movies, music CDs, jigsaw puzzles, and board games.  All proceeds from both sales will benefit the Jefferson public library.  Persons who want more information can call the library at 515-386-2835.  “Thank you for supporting your local library and its programs by attending these sales,” a Friends of the Library spokesperson said.
